Updated resources: Safety and resilience in the refugee and migration sector

Access resources to strengthen safety, security, resilience, and wellbeing across the sector, following the 2024 racist riots.

JULY 2025

One year has passed since the devastating racist riots that deeply affected the refugee and migration sector. These events caused widespread fear, particularly among colleagues with lived experience and from racialised communities, and severely disrupted the vital services that support people navigating the migration system.

In the aftermath, it became clear that our response could not be short-term. We needed to strengthen our collective preparedness. To that end, a scoping exercise was undertaken to understand the impact on organisations and funders, how they responded, and what support was available to affected communities.

This page brings together a range of resources developed in response to those findings. You’ll find information in the blogs about how the sector was impacted and responded, our key asks for funders, as well as a curated list of training and support providers focused on security, safety, wellbeing and resilience. Whether you’re looking to better protect your staff, collaborate more effectively, or build long-term preparedness, these resources are here to support you.
