Building and Sustaining Support for Human Rights in the UK

A landscape review of the opportunities and challenges for donors and civil society organisations in the field of human rights.

Thomas Paine Initiative

This review addresses the nature, scale and urgency of the challenge facing support for human rights in the UK today, the extent to which these challenges are presently being met and assesses the current funding context for work supporting human rights in the UK. In summary, the views of those who have been most hostile to human rights have changed little. However, outside those who are ideologically opposed to human rights, there is evidence of less political hostility more broadly and human rights become a more established and accepted part of the UK constitutional settlement.
